A podcast about life as a teenager in Sweden

We will work with podcasts the last weeks. We are going to follow a Syrian family in this podcast. I will give you questions to discuss.

You are also going to produce your own podcasts and reflect on your own lives in Sweden.

The ability we are going to focus on is this:

reflect over living conditions, social and cultural phenomena in different contexts and parts of the world where English is used.

This is the assessment:

Pupils can understand the main content and basic details in English spoken at a moderate pace and in basic texts in various genres. Pupils show their understanding by presenting an overview with discussion and comments on content and details and also with acceptable results act on the basis of the message and instructions in the content.

Eleven kan förstå det huvudsakliga innehållet och uppfatta tydliga detaljer i talad engelska i måttligt tempo samt i lättillgängliga texter i olika genrer. Eleven visar sin förståelse genom att översiktligt redogöra för, diskutera och kommentera innehåll och detaljer samt genom att med godtagbart resultat agera utifrån budskap och instruktioner i innehållet.

In oral and written production, pupils can express themselves simply, understandably and relatively coherently.

I muntlig och skriftlig interaktion i olika sammanhang kan eleven uttrycka sig enkelt och begripligt samt i någon mån anpassat till syfte, mottagare och situation. 

Pupils discuss in overall terms some phenomena in different contexts and areas where English is used, and can also make simple comparisons with their own experiences and knowledge.

Eleven diskuterar översiktligt några företeelser i olika sammanhang och områden där engelska används, och kan då också göra enkla jämförelser med egna erfarenheter och kunskaper.

 Here are some suggested topics to your podcasts:
  • How does an everyday life in Sweden look like?
  • How does the school system look like?
  • What important issues do we deal with today?
  • How do we celebrate Christmas, Midsummer or other holidays that you think are important? Why are they important to you?
  • What can we learn from the podcast above? What is different and what is similar?

 

We are going to record the podcasts on our iPads and publish them on a Padlet. I will show you later on but first we will start to listen and to reflect on some topics for our own podcasts. You will write a manuscript before the recordings.
