To read and to use strategies

Mål:

läsa, tolka och förstå text samt användandet av strategier

Att göra:

We are going to read a text about a girl named Zelda. You will work with your new knowledge of how to use strategies for understanding a word.

You will get the texts in class and you can read them on your own or together in pairs.

After the reading you are going to answer some questions. This you do on your own. The questions are questions you can find in the text, but also questions where you have to think a bit. You have to motivate your answers.

You are also going to work with words for a deeper meaning. Here you have to use strategies and make sure you use the strategies I have showed you. You will have use of them on the national test later on.

We are going to use the reading strategies I have posted in class.

Strategies for understanding a word

How do you do when you don´t understand a word? We are going to work with different strategies of how to do when you do not know a words meaning.

I have done some pictures for you to use when we work with this. I have done them in Swedish since I need to help pupils with SVA in Swedish. You have probably seen them in the classroom already?

We are going to work with two texts that are written with nonsens words so you can try out some strategies and also show me how you think. I will give you the texts in class.

To do:

You will meet the character Willy Wonka from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I will read the passage for you and afterwards I want you to discuss it in pairs.

  • Willy Wonka is compared to an animal. Which?
  • Are any more animals mentioned?
  • Can you find some colors that describe the setting?
  • How do they walk?
  • How many characters are mentioned in this passage?
  • When you hear the names do you associate them to anything special?
